Don’t Be Afraid to Have Your Own Opinion

A lot of people nowadays, once they meet a guy or girl they like or maybe even get into a relationship, always have in mind that compatible minds think alike. This isn’t always the case in romance. A compatible couple is not all about two persons having identical personalities. It is about two persons complementing each person’s personality.

A lot of guys and girls also enjoy being contradicted from time to time. It shows that the other person isn’t just going to give in to everything we say. This shows a person that their partner in romance is confident and independent enough to make his or her own opinion. I believe that this characteristic is an essential one. We have to show our partner or partner-to-be that we are not a pushover and we will voice out our opinion.

A romantic relationship was made to have open communication and expression of feeling and opinion. What kind of a relationship would it be when only one person talks and the other person agrees to everything? This, I believe, is what makes a somewhat forgettable relationship. In one way or another, these two people will get tired of either keeping the command or being the follower. They will someday realize that they want something more meaningful. They will want a partner with more personality; a personality that is able to compare and contrast opinions and express them freely.

Don’t be afraid that contradicting your partner means that you aren’t compatible. It just means that you may have a different way of looking at a certain topic. This shows your independence and ability to voice out to your partner how you think and feel.
