An Unlikely Reality of True Love
Most of us have the impression that true love is all about romantic fairytale endings. We have the traditional ideas that in the end, true love will keep two people together forever amidst all circumstances. True love will be the driving force that will keep a person in love with another. I don’t know if this will be the first time you will here this but the real essence of true love is being capable of letting go. Letting go never seems to be an option when two people are in love. There is always the belief that true love will prevail against all obstacles.
Although love seems to be the happy-ending type of feeling, there exists a truth that a person may have to part ways with the one who he truly loves and cares for. There are just some situations wherein letting go is what’s best for us or our loved one.
An example could be taken from the movie “Hitch” wherein Albert, one of the characters was in love with a big-time celebrity that seemed out of his reach. He goes to Hitch, Will Smith, for help and this is what he tells Hitch: “You know what it’s like getting up every morning? Feeling hopeless, feeling like the love of your life is waking up with the wrong man. But, at the same time hoping that she still finds happiness, even if it’s never going to be with you…”
Although we couldn’t say that Albert was truly in love with the celebrity, Allegra Cole, we could see the dedication and pure intentions of Albert. That is what true love is. True love is having the capacity to let go and want what’s best for our loved one even if it might not be with us. We have to know what’s best for us and/or our counterpart. True love is wanting the best for our special someone more than anything else.
