“How Will We Love” Makes YouTube Premier
Xlantic presents the worldwide online premiere of “How Will We Love?”— a feature-length documentary about love and relationships, featuring top experts in the field—from filmmaker and composer Chris Brickler. The film is streaming online for free, indefinitely, online at YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqAEfBMlJoc) and at www.HowWillWeLove.com. YouTube is making “How Will We Love?” one of the first independent films to be streamed in full HD and subtitled in over 100 languages. As part of an initiative to offer more meaningful long-form content, the site started streaming the film on Saturday, April 11, 2009, which resulted in more than 200,000 viewers for the film’s first weekend online.
Brickler says, “This is an amazing time in history for independent filmmakers. To be able to reach this size of a global audience by streaming the film online would be equivalent to packing roughly 500 theaters.”
The film is based on Brickler’s previous incarnation of the project, “Song of Songs,” the first-ever Emmy-nominated Internet series on love and relationships. The “How Will We Love?” DVD will be available on Tuesday, July 16, 2009, via the film’s website. Pre-orders are available for $9.95.
With an innovative marketing strategy, Xlantic has partnered with many brands to bring global exposure to the project, including YouTube, AOL, CurrentTV, Intel, Sony, Rhapsody, MySpace, iTunes, Yahoo, Chemistry.com, Spiritual Cinema Circle, 1-800-Flowers and Vividas.
Brickler has also syndicated the Emmy-nominated series in the U.S. and the U.K. with a 10-episode deal with Current TV (http://current.com/topics/86486491/song_of_songs/default/0.htm). He also directed one of the largest original webisodic programs on AOL, “The Pulse”, a 32-part series exploring dating and single life in America (http://video.aol.com/category/the-pulse-dating).
“How Will We Love?” is an artistic documentary exploration into romantic love, relationships and the future of life-long commitment. Brickler weaves together real stories of love and loss, music and invaluable expert research. The project was inspired by Brickler’s grandparents, who recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. After capturing the spirit of their relationship on camera, he interviewed hundreds of people, including top relationship experts like Harville Hendrix Ph.D, Helen LaKelly Hunt, M.A., M.I.A, Dr. Helen Fisher, Dr. Gary Chapman, Pastor Ed Young and Rabbi Steve Z. Leder.
Brickler adds, “The greatest gift I got from my grandparents was them showing me how they share their love for each other. I created this project to encourage people to have honest conversations that lead to better relationships. The content has already inspired thousands of people, and I believe this project will continue to evolve into many other new projects, including more meaningful programming for television.”
