Do Women Handle Crisis Differently from Men?’
“Crisis is like a Rorschach test — you bring to it all your life and professional experience,” says Davia B. Temin, President and CEO of Temin and Company. “In my experience, women often react to crisis differently from men — neither better nor worse, but differently.”
“Women tend to face crisis more head-on and often see the facts more clearly. But, at the same time, they can become stuck more easily because they see all sides of the issue.”
On July 15th, Ms. Temin will address the Chautauqua Professional Women’s Network, part of the renowned Chautauqua Institution, which for more than 130 years has attracted scholarship in the arts, education, religion, and culture, including a long tradition of women’s programs.
The Women’s Network, launched this year at Chautauqua by Avivah Wittenberg-Cox, CEO of gender consultancy 20-first, and founder and publisher of 20-first: Waking Up To WOMEN-omics, will explore the economic and political impact and influence of women.
“There is so much to be learned when you walk through refiner’s fire, and come out the other side. I think that men and women have a lot to learn from one another…and this is true in the boardroom and in the living room. It is the combination that will keep us stronger under duress.”
