Facebook: Why Add if You Will Ignore?

draft_lens1906276module8751985photo_facebook111205846979Facebook has come a long way. From a meager social networking site, it has grown into one of the popular sites where people meet, play games and hook up with lost friends. Friends, this includes good and bad ones from the past to which many people would still have some grudge against them or perhaps look up to them as mediocre.

This is something that seems weird. For example a long-lost friend or classmate adds you and then chooses not to reply. I have had my share of those which push me to start being ignorant to some people. Just a simple high and some updates wouldn’t hurt and yet you get no reply. Isn’t this kind disrespectful?

A lot of this can be attributed to hang-ups. Some people always say that the past is past. But does it cover all people? Apparently not. There are some who would not forget the dirty and dark past they had, especially during the high school or college days. Some just accept your request for the sake of being civilized. Other than that, don’t expect to forget about the past things, particularly the forgettable ones.

So should you accept friend requests from Facebook? Well apparently you can. But as far as going beyond that like catching up or starting a conversation, just don’t expect too much. Some will reply and some will not. That is just life. Even your hang-ups follow you in social networking sites like Facebook. Bummer!
