Don’t Make Promises You Can’t Keep

A lot of people promise their special someone things they can’t surely fulfill. Promises make our partners feel secure. Of course, their trust in you is immeasurable. They will believe you in every promise you make. But the big question is, are you sure you will able to keep that promise?
People often answer this question with a straight up, “YES!” They don’t hesitate. They don’t doubt, for that moment at least. Would your answer now be the same as ten years from today? No one will ever know until you get to that point in your life.
Some don’t realize that the pledge they make to their partner is everlasting. Those words of yours will be engraved into stones that are placed in the heart of your loved ones. They will never forget the promises you make. This is the reason why your partner is deeply hurt when you break your promise. They expected you to be able to keep that promise. They trusted you and believed in you. Trust is the easiest thing to lose and the hardest thing to revive. That is why they feel that you let them down. The excuse, “those are just words”, are not going to work this time around. Promises have deeper binding to another person’s heart. This special binding lasts a lifetime.
So don’t make unreasonable promises. Don’t make promises you can’t keep. Think before you add, “I promise to/that”, to your sentence. Remember, promises are not meant to be broken.
