Is One-sided Love a Love Worth Giving?

In love, not all persons are reciprocated with the love they have prepared to give to a significant other. There are times when we may end up falling in love for someone who doesn’t feel the same way towards us.
This kind of love may seem unfair, not worth investing our time in, and meaningless by the mere fact that the person we are so in love with doesn’t feel the same way as we do.
When these thought go through your mind, you fail to realize that this love may grow into something more than the instantly returned, “I feel the same way for you”, kind of love. When we are certain that this person is truly deserving of a love that does not ask for anything in return, it means that this love we are holding within is something unique. It is called unrequited love.
The beauty of this kind of love is that it is the most deserving of gratitude and appreciation and luckily, it is possible that it doesn’t end in just that. It may, after a wearisome wait, be reciprocated.
When we have established for ourselves that the other person is worth waiting and working hard to be with, we have to remain patient and hope that the counterpart our heart has chosen might someday notice our love and realize that there is someone around him(or her) who is waiting and worth giving a shot at loving.
We value things we work hard for more compared to the things that are within our reach. Unrequited love, believe me, it’s worth giving.

Excellent! The writer here has captured the true essence of love in just 6 paragraphs. True love just does not have any expectations, be it love for god, love for parents, romantic love or any other form of love. I myself am in love with a girl for the last 6 years (infact I would complete 6 years on Sep, 15) but she does not love me although she treats me her best friend. She is in love with someone else and among all her friends she has told this only to me. She knows about my feelings but still we are comfortable with each other. Everyday I pray to god for their union and I pray that in each of my lives, may I love only her but in each of those lives may she belong only to him. Achieving her is not central to the fulfillment of my love but her happiness is. Love actually makes you a good human being.
