On Long Distance Relationships

Nowadays, people are faced with long-distance relationship problems. Partners who are cities apart might have a hard time keeping the relationship together. The worst case scenario is being countries apart. This is actually happening to some couples now.

What is the downside of a long distance relationship? First of all, the intimacy will be constricted to some points. The physical comfort around each other wouldn’t be as established. Next, though we may feel like we get to talk to our “far away” partner everyday, they’re attitude in person may still be different. Of course, the meeting of one another will be less frequent, therefore every time you meet, there will be a different vibe coming from your partner. In short, long distance relationships just hinder a couple from building their comfort with each other; the sense of touch and the presence of the other person around you.

On the other hand, what is the upside of a long distance relationship? I guess this could be seen as the ultimate test of one’s love for the other. The saddest times a couple will have are the times when they are apart; physically or emotionally. If the distance doesn’t drift the couple apart and the love remains unchanged, then this will show how strong a couple’s love is.

What can be done to keep a long-distance relationship strong? First, keep in mind how much joy it brings you when you are finally together physically. Next, have good communication. You should be able to express openly and be comfortable with your partner regarding your feelings. Try to be as open to your partner as possible. The distance physically is already there; don’t add the emotional drift anymore. Lastly, have an end-goal in mind. Have a picture of you and your partner in the future. Try not to leave your time of meeting a mystery. Have something to look forward to.

Long distance relationships are hard. But they can work.
