Recommended Romance Movie Reviews: The Terminal

Hanks, Jones and Spielberg on the set of The Terminal

Cast: Tom Hanks, Catherine Zeta-Jones
Directed by: Steven Spielberg

Tom Hanks is one of the acclaimed actors that garnered quite a reputation as far as starring in hit movies. The Terminal (1984), a comedy-romance classic directed by the popular director Steven Spielberg, is one movie you should not fail to miss nor collect. The setting itself provides a heavenly romantic atmosphere and you are certain to get a feel of the movie from the opening scene.

The Terminal

The setting takes place at the Kennedy Airport in New York where incoming passengers need to have their passport verified together with their VISA to be able to walk in US soil. Tom Hanks who portrays Viktor Navorski finds himself in the middle of a crisis as his homeland, Krakozia, is under a military coup. With that in mind, his VISA was unfortunately suspended and he finds himself “unacceptable” or a man with no country.

Navorski who can barely speak English, finds himself in a hole and not until she accidentally meets a first class stewardess, Amelia Warren (Catherine Zeta-Jones) whom she falls in love with. While the whole story was really based on the story of a man who had to reside in an airport for over 9 months due to his current situation, this love affair was not much of the main purpose of the movie. But you just got to love the magic and romance that makers were trying to insert into the movie plot.

The real plot of the story was for Navorski to secure an autograph of a last jazz artist in the collection that his father gave him. If you sum it all up, that is just the whole purpose of the story as well as providing a lesson that love can make anyone do and learn something if he really wants to.
